Teaching Layer Update Report — 2026-08-22
Scope
Full synchronization of `08_teaching/` with the current Atlas system state (post ecc_beam_extension ingestion, post Victor Li book citation asset build, post manuscript writing guide integration).
Changes
1. `teaching_index.md` — rewritten
- Added lecture module 09 (flexural members) to the teaching sequence.
- Added "Atlas snapshot" table: 122 nodes (29 Tier 1 + 93 Tier 2), 290 paper cards, five extensions, book anchor 427 pages.
- Updated evidence file list with row counts: foundational 70, extreme ductility 136, sustainable 271, Lee lab 134, **ECC beam 214 (new)**.
- Added `extension_registry.csv` as a student-facing overview.
- Added "Book-based teaching support" section: `equation_reference_sheet.md`, `figure_index/` (410 figures), `victor_li_book_citation_protocol.md`.
- Added `link_slab.md` to core anchors (beam/structural axis).
2. `lecture_modules/09_flexural_members_beams_slabs.md` — new module
- Built from `ecc_beam_extension` (53 papers, 214 claim-evidence rows).
- Covers: deflection hardening vs strain hardening, ECC link slabs, composite bridge decks, member-level crack width and durability, shear behavior.
- 10-section format consistent with modules 01–08.
- All node references are existing Tier 1/Tier 2 nodes (`crack_width_control`, `flexural_testing`, `link_slab`, `composite_bridge_deck`, `shear_behavior`, `structural_component_testing`).
3. Existing modules — surgical updates
- `01_ecc_intro.md`: added Atlas scale snapshot (122 nodes, 290 cards, 825 claim-evidence rows).
- `04_crack_width_durability_self_healing.md`: added structural durability link (beam extension matrix).
- `05_green_ecc_and_sustainability.md`: added green ECC beam structural sustainability view.
- `06_extreme_ductility_and_uhp_ecc.md`: added member-level ductility view (beam extension).
- `08_ai_assisted_materials_research.md`: added live workflow pointers (query templates, book citation protocol).
4. `student_reading_paths/research_project_path.md` — rewritten
- Added `ecc_beam_extension` as a reading option with its matrix (214 rows).
- Added row counts to all matrix references.
- Added "Writing support" section: `manuscript_writing_guide.md`, `paper_writing_style_by_kor.md`, `paper_writing_style_by_eng.md`.
- Added "Precision rule": book claims require page-level citation per `victor_li_book_citation_protocol.md`; uncertain items marked `needs_check`.
Verification
- 22 files in `08_teaching/` checked (21 original + 1 new module).
- All relative Atlas references resolve to existing files (0 broken links).
- New module registered in `teaching_index.md`.
- All numbers cross-checked against `07_visualization/extension_registry.csv` and `node_tier_inventory.csv`.
- Post-update re-verification (2026-08-22): paper card count confirmed 290 by YAML `atlas_doc_type` scan (foundational folder contains 5 additional support files that are not cards); module 09 node tiers confirmed (2 Tier 1 + 4 Tier 2, no Tier 3); beam matrix topic coverage confirmed (flexural 143, crack width 35, shear 20, link slab 13, bridge deck 3 rows); beginner path extended with module 09 and concept explainer entry points. Final verdict: PASS.
Remaining (optional, later)
- Slide/figure assets from verified PDFs (instructor note in index).
- Concept explainer for flexural/structural behavior if beam-focused teaching expands.
